Father, this one is hard.

You told me to pray for my enemies. There is a person I would rather not name out loud. We both know who it is.

I do not want to bless them. I want to be vindicated. I want them to see what they did.

But You said pray for them. So I am praying for them. Not because I feel like it. Because You said.

Bless them today. Bring good into their life. Soften them in places I cannot reach.

While You are at it — soften me. The places where I have rehearsed the speech I will never give. The places where I have been the prosecutor when I should have been the human. The places I have let resentment grow because the soil was so fertile.

I cannot do this on my own. So You do it. I am not above being changed by my own prayer.

In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
