Lord, my friend is sick and the news is not getting better.
I do not have the words I want to have. I have texted them the wrong things. I have not texted them when I should have. I have run out of casseroles and run out of clever.
But I have not run out of prayer for them.
Be in their body where the doctors cannot reach. Be in their nights when the dark is loudest. Be in the small moments of dignity the hospital does not preserve.
Give me the right thing to do this week. Not what would impress them. What would actually help them. Show me whether to drop off groceries or just sit on their porch in silence.
If there is healing for them this side of heaven, lay Your hand on them. If there is not, walk them home with such gentleness that even this loss becomes Yours.
In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
