Father, I stand at the school gate with my heart in my throat.
This is not my first day. It is theirs. And I am terrified I will not be enough.
I want to run inside and take their hand. I want to promise nothing will break. I know I cannot.
Steady my feet. Loosen my grip. Remind me You held Gideon in the dark watch.
You see the tremor in my breath. You know the weight I cannot name. Help me stand here and let go.
In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
