Lord, today is my child's birthday. I woke up before the alarm again. I counted the years on my fingers. I remembered the first cry, the first step. I am grateful. Not just for the cake or the gifts, but for the breath in their lungs.

Thank You for this life You lent me to watch grow. Thank You for the laughter that spills over breakfast. Thank You for the way they still reach for my hand when we cross the street.

Steady my joy. Loosen my fear that it won't last. Remind me to see them as You see them.

I know I often reach for control — making lists, checking boxes, trying to keep them safe by managing everything. I put it down. This day is not mine to perfect.

Sit with the candlelight. Watch them blow it out. Don't rush the quiet after.

In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
