Lord, today the water means something.
We are standing in front of people we love and people we barely know. We are saying out loud what You have been doing inside us quietly for a long time.
Be present in the words. Be present in the water. Be present in the chest of every person who is making this promise.
For the one stepping into the river — old life under, new life up. Let the symbol be a real thing, not a performance.
For the witnesses — be the reason we showed up. Use the moment to call back the parts of us that wandered.
For me — wherever I am in my own road today — receive me again. The baptism happens once. The dying-and-rising happens every morning.
Make the water count. Make the promise stick. Walk the new life out of the building when the service ends.
