For the day you make a promise that will outlast feelings
Father, today I am promising another human being something I cannot fully understand yet.
I am promising it anyway because I trust You with it.
Steady me at the altar. Steady my hands. Steady my voice when I say the words I have been rehearsing.
When the love gets hard — and it will — be the One who reminds us why we did this. Be the third strand in the cord.
Keep us tender enough to apologize first. Keep us honest enough to fight clean. Keep us patient enough to grow up alongside each other instead of away from each other.
The wedding is one day. The marriage is the prayer.
Bless what we are starting. Carry us into what we cannot see yet. Make us better people together than we would be apart.
