Father, today we leave this place.
There are boxes in the rooms that used to be rooms. The walls already look bigger and emptier. The corner where we put the Christmas tree is just a corner again.
Thank You for the years here. The hard ones and the good ones. The arguments that taught us how to fight better. The mornings the light came in just so. The kid who learned to walk on this floor.
Go before us into the next place. Be the first guest who shows up. Be in the boxes that won't be unpacked for a month. Be in the new neighbors we have not met yet.
I am sad and I am ready and both are true. Let the leaving be holy. Let the arriving be holy too.
A home is not a building. We are taking the home with us.
In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
