Lord, the house is quiet and not in a good way.

We are not fighting. We are not talking either. We are passing each other between rooms like roommates who used to know how to laugh.

I do not know exactly when this started. I know it has gone on long enough that I am scared.

Help one of us break it. Probably me. Probably first. Probably tonight before the dishes are done.

Soften the thing in me that wants to be right more than close. Take the small grievances that became wall material. Show me where I have been the wound, so I can be the one to start the salve.

Marriage is not made of feelings. It is made of small turnings. Turn me toward them again. Help me ask the question I have been afraid to ask.

In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
