Father, my kid is in their room and I do not know how to reach them anymore.

The conversation last week did not land. The week before that was worse. I am parenting someone I do not entirely recognize.

I love them. They probably do not feel that today. They might feel managed. They might feel disappointing. They might feel anything but loved.

Soften my voice for the next conversation. Loosen my grip. Show me when to lead and when to listen and when to just be in the kitchen if they want to come out.

I cannot make them open the door. I can make sure the door is not locked from my side.

Keep me ready. As long as it takes. Be in the room they're in when I cannot be.

In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
