When the Prayer Isn't Answered
For the ask You've made a thousand times
Lord, I have asked You for this so many times I am embarrassed to ask again.
But here I am, asking again.
I am not going to pretend I understand the silence. I do not.
Show me what I am supposed to learn while I wait. Or show me how to keep asking without becoming bitter. Or show me how to let it go without giving up on You.
Maybe the answer is no. Maybe the answer is not yet. Maybe the answer is something I am not ready to hear.
Whatever it is — do not let me confuse Your silence for absence. Do not let me trade the relationship for the request.
I want You more than the thing I am asking for. Make that more true today than yesterday.
