Father, it is the middle of the night and I am awake. Again.

The clock keeps moving and my body will not turn off and the thing I was trying not to think about is the only thing I can think about.

I am not going to lie and say I'm at peace. I'm not. I'm tired and I'm afraid and the dark is doing what the dark does.

Be here. Right here. In the bed. In the dark. Not as a feeling — as a fact.

I do not have to solve this tonight. I have to outlast tonight. You will hold the day. I will close my eyes.

In Jesus' name we pray. Amen.
